Camera Traps

Game/trail cameras offer a closer view of animals than available from the permanent time-lapse camera at KOLA. From October 2021 through March 2022, UNK undergraduate student Jennica Delvaux observed wildlife from trail camera images collected at KOLA. She placed a camera on the pond, creek, and in the woodland, and recorded images every 5 minutes, as well as motion-triggered for the creek and woodland cameras. She documented at least 12 species, mostly birds. She also created lessons for KHS students about the project that she shared with classes during her teaching practicum experience (UNK Teacher Education 320 course).
